In a shocking incident at Murubira Beach on Mosqueiro Island, Brazil, Gerson Carvalho Alencar Correia, a 24-year-old man, was arrested following a high-stakes chase across the beach. The drama unfolded on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 2, 2024, approximately 70 kilometers from Belém, in the state of Pará.
A bystander managed to capture the whole chase on video, and, of course, it ended up all over social media.
Correia was accused of launching a brutal attack on his girlfriend, escalating from an argument to punches, kicks, and a severe blow to the head with a bottle. This violent act resulted in serious head injuries for the victim, who was later treated and discharged from the Hospital Geral de Mosqueiro.
Local Police Respond to the Incident
Dozens of beachgoers witnessed the incident, which prompted immediate action as civilians and military police officers joined forces to apprehend Correia, who was attempting to flee the scene. Videos online showcased the chase’s intensity, with Correia evading capture through dodges and sprints.

After arresting Correia, authorities took him to the Seccional Urbana de Mosqueiro for processing and subsequently transferred him to the custody of the Secretaria de Estado de Administração Penitenciária (Seap), where he awaits legal proceedings. Medical professionals rushed the injured girlfriend to Geral de Mosqueiro Hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, they determined that her injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening.
