When it comes to weddings, a surprise is usually the last thing you want on your big day. But every once in a while, a groom pulls off a surprise so perfect that it makes everything come together.
A video recently went viral of a wedding in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, between José Vitor Flach and his fiancée Cíntia Bonfante Pereira. In the video, Cíntia is seen sobbing as she realizes that the ring bearers walking down the aisle are none other than her students with Down syndrome.
Cintía is a speech therapist who works with children with speech delays due to Down syndrome. Her students mean everything to her, so she wanted to have them be a part of her wedding from the beginning.
“It was very emotional because I asked the priest from the church we got married to let me have the kids I had in my practice, but he said that I couldn’t,” said Cíntia.
Little did she know, it was all part of the surprise. Her husband had already planned for the children to be the surprise ring bearers and worked with the priest to keep it a secret until the last minute.

The end result was nothing short of spectacular. In the video, you can see Cíntia burst into tears the moment she turns around and sees her students for the first time. The procession was led by an older boy looking particularly dapper in a pair of suspenders, gently guiding a group of girls in white dresses and flower crowns as they made their way down the aisle. The gorgeous group was followed by a couple of young boys in an electric car at the back, smiling and waving as they zoomed down the aisle.

As the kids reached the end of the aisle, José and Cíntia knelt and shared a tender moment with each of her students.
“I love my profession so much and having the opportunity to have some of the children with me on this day was inexplicable,” said Cíntia. “The emotion overcame me in a way that I thought my heart would not take!”
Cíntia posted the video on Instagram, where it quickly went viral. It has since been reposted by countless people who are touched by the love Cíntia has for her students. Commenters have praised José for his thoughtfulness and commended the couple for taking time during their wedding to be present with the kids.

I love how the wedding is stoped so she can thank all of them at the end.

The day is about her. But she doesn't care. To her that moment is 100% about the kids. And she couldn't be more happy.
Even though it’s been three years since the day of their wedding, the moment continues to capture people from all over the world. With so much fear, anger, and darkness going on in the world, it’s moments like these that remind us just how much beauty there is too.
