In the shocking security camera footage, shots are captured ringing throughout the air in Indianapolis, Indiana. A family residing on Denison Street rushed inside after almost 50 bullets were shot at multiple homes.
Alyssa Vaught, in the blue sweatshirt, can be seen confused alongside her family. She said that there were usually a lot of gunshots on the road, so it was unclear if it was an actual shooting. The family of five believed that the noise came from fireworks at first. When the gunfire continued, that was when they realized there was a shootout.
Ronnie Vaught, wearing black pants, stated that he saw three people wearing masks and patrolling around the house. Several cars were hit and stray bullets went through people’s windows and walls. The shooter started to run up and down the street, firing more shots. One resident’s fish tank was broken through the window. Another person living nearby had their red Sedan’s windshield shattered by a bullet.
“The first person hit the ground that got shot, as soon as I saw that, I knew it was a shootout.”

The man who got hit by the gunfire was identified as Ashton Gibbs. He hid behind two cars before two bullets punctured his left thigh. When Gibbs’ father saw him wounded, he shot back at the masked gunmen. Gibbs believes that he was targeted, but the reason remains unclear.
Vaught ran to check on Gibbs after the gunfire ceased. Vaught frantically asked Gibbs if he was okay, but Gibbs could only reply with “I can’t move, I can’t move”.
“I ran around the bushes and he was just covered in blood.”

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stated that two people were shot and taken to the hospital to be treated. They have now recovered. The Vaught family and their neighbors were “scared to death,” but they all hope that something like this never happens again.
